Lucy Bronze wins PFA Players' Player of the Year

PFA Players' Player of the Year, Lucy Bronze

Manchester City full-back Lucy Bronze has been crowned the PFA Players’ Player of the Year in association with Sodexo for the second time in her career at the 2017 PFA Awards in London on Sunday evening.

She might have caught the eye in 2015 after she was shortlisted for the Golden Ball following her heroics at the Women’s World Cup, but Lucy Bronze in 2016 has been no less impressive.

She joined Manchester City from Liverpool in 2014 and since then the full-back has been a crucial part of the defence who conceded only four goals on their way to winning the FA Women’s Super League.

Bronze has proved she is always dangerous in attack and scored the extra-time winner to secure the Continental Tyres Cup for City in October.

She played down her role in that goal though, saying in the post-match interview: “Ultimately, it cam down to scoring a goal – and I was in the one in the right place at the right time.”

The England international was shortlisted for the 2016 FIFPro Women’s World XI and picked up the WSL1 Player of the Year prize at the 2016 FA Women’s Football Awards.
