PFA Legal Assistance
The PFA can provide legal assistance to its members in relation to all football matters.
The union has successfully and in mitigation represented many of its members at appeals including those of a disciplinary nature both on and off the field, monies owing under contracts and settlement of contracts as a result of injury.
The PFA has also represented many other players in disputes with clubs and successfully resolved these without the need to refer these matters to the Football Disciplinary Commission. Where situations have escalated we have continued to represent and assist members in Football Disciplinary Commission hearings.
We have advised both current and former members with regard to proposed contracts and also compromise agreements, whereby the termination of a contract is settled by mutual consent and a negotiated settlement is achieved to avoid the need to take such matters forward on a legal basis.
Where contracts have been terminated without notice and/or pay, we have been able to negotiate monetary settlements for members or have them reinstated to their positions.
Although the PFA do not become involved in Player-v-Player matters, it does continue to offer assistance in relation to personal injuries sustained and clinical negligence claims arising out of a career as a footballer.
The PFA is able to provide advice and assistance upon a great deal of legal issues and as a member you should not hesitate to contact us should you require such assistance.
The Professional Footballers Pension Scheme provides valuable benefits for Registered Contract Players and their dependants during their playing career and after they leave or retire.
